Reputation for Excellence

The HBA of Greater Springfield takes great care to make sure its members are held to the highest standard of professionalism. Members must keep record of general liability and workers’ compensation insurance on file at the HBA office, for the protection of their customers.  Builders’ references are checked and their work is inspected by other builder members prior to their acceptance into the association. Once a member, businesses are held to high professional standards through peer accountability, customer satisfaction reports, and complaint resolution procedures. Perhaps most importantly, these and other efforts to maintain a standard of excellence are regularly communicated to the community and potential customers, so THEY KNOW the value of doing business with reputable HBA members.

NAHB and HBAM Membership is INCLUDED!

When you pay membership dues to the HBA of Greater Springfield, you automatically also become a member (at no added charge) of the national and state Home Builders Associations (National Association of Home Builders and Home Builders Association of Missouri).  These memberships entitle you to mountains of educational resources, policy advocacy materials, specially discounted products for your business, and free professional services such as legal advice, regulatory and policy experts and other counsel vital to your business.

Great Local Advertising Benefits

The HBA of Greater Springfield implements a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan designed to constantly put its members in front of the public as the best choice in the home building industry. The association advertising highlights special annual events, such as the Home Show, Remodeling Show and Parade of Homes, and includes Spring, Summer and Fall “Image Campaigns” designed to steer business toward HBA members. The HBA logo, tag line (“Building Better Tomorrows”), commercial jingle, and television graphics all are available for use by members in their own advertising FREE OF CHARGE, simply by virtue of their membership. Additionally, the HBA has negotiated special, reduced-rate “member advertising packages” with all major local media outlets.

Political/Governmental Support

As a member of the HBA of Greater Springfield, you will be privy to regulatory and legislative issues on the local, state, and federal levels that directly affect your business. What’s more, you will have direct access to the officials responsible for decisions that affect your livelihood at the very earliest stages of the process. The HBA schedules regular roundtable discussions with local, county, state and federally elected and appointed government officials on the issues that matter to our members. The HBA of Greater Springfield is the recognized voice of the home building industry in the region.  And, when elections roll around, it is absolutely essential that home builders have a voice in who represents our communities in important decision-making offices.

High-Profile, High Quality Annual Local Events

Who in the community is not familiar with the local Home Show, Remodeling Show or Parade of Homes? These annual local events are eagerly anticipated in the Greater Springfield area, and they are well attended. Your membership in the HBA allows you the option of participating in each of these events.  In some cases, non-members are charged higher entry fees; in other cases they are not allowed participation at all (for example, the Parade of Homes is for HBA builder members only). These events not only provide the opportunity to put your business in front of large numbers of serious potential customers, but they also get your name out to the general public through our aggressive advertising and promotional campaigns.

Education and Professional Development

Countless opportunities exist on the national level for professional development, special certifications and general educational betterment. These programs provide opportunities for you to learn more about your specific niche in the industry, business operations, maximizing profits, special techniques or crafts, and many other aspects of your profession. Locally, the HBA of Greater Springfield brings in professional educators on these issues of importance to the industry and our members. We also provide opportunities for member forums and special council membership, which help you learn more about how to succeed through interaction with your peers.

Social Interaction and Networking with Local, State and National Industry Leaders Multiple golf and fishing tournaments, the annual HBA Bowl-A-Rama tournament, monthly dinner meetings for the membership, and multiple opportunities for committee membership all provide the networking opportunities your business needs within the industry. As you become involved with these activities and get to know our members better, you will find the experience professionally and personally gratifying.

Dues Among the Lowest in the Country

As an astute businessperson, you know that good business decisions are based largely on cost-benefit analysis. The good news is that, although the HBA of Greater Springfield provides one of the most active and dynamic association membership opportunities in the country, our dues are among the lowest anywhere. How do we do it?  Many years of prudent management by committed members serving on our board of directors have produced reliable sources of non-dues revenue that take the burden off membership dues as a primary source of operating income. In fact, surveys of local Home Builders Associations indicate that the HBA of Greater Springfield consistently ranks among the very least expensive membership dues in the entire country, among associations of all sizes. It is very common for HBAs of similar size in other areas to charge anywhere from $500 to $2000 per year for membership. By comparison, your membership is a bargain at $280 to $400, depending on your membership category (Builder, Remodeler, or Associate).
